Turning Pain into Purpose

Helping Military Families recover, rebuild and find hope after loss

EARLY LIFE & MOTIVATION

Iryna Bordun was born in Kolomyia, a city in western Ukraine. She trained as a biologist and lived a peaceful life until the war disrupted everything. Her husband, Lyubomyr Bordun, volunteered to serve as an infantryman in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and tragically lost his life in 2022 near Bakhmut during a mission. Less than a year later, Iryna’s older brother, Oleg Pavlyshyn, also died while serving in the 46th Separate Air Assault Brigade. The losses left her devastated, but they fueled her determination to make a difference for others facing similar grief.

PERSONAL LOSS & NEW PURPOSE

The profound pain of losing both her husband and brother led Iryna to create the ‘Strength of Life’ organization. This initiative was born out of a need to support military families who have faced similar devastating losses. The organization offers a safe space where these families can come together, share their stories, and offer mutual support. Iryna’s personal tragedy became the driving force behind this project, allowing her to build a community where women can heal together, share their grief, and find strength to rebuild their lives amidst the overwhelming loss.

The Strength of Life Organization

"These losses became a deep pain in my heart. But from this pain, the Strength of Life Organization was born - a public organization I created to support the wives, mothers and families of military servicemen."

Iryna's New Life Mission

In the face of profound loss, Iryna Bordun turned her grief into action by founding ‘Strength of Life,’ an organization that provides vital emotional and social support to wives, mothers, and families who have lost loved ones in the war. It offers a safe space for women to share their stories, find strength in community, and begin healing together. Iryna has also contributed to projects like ‘Strength Source 2’ and ‘Strength Source 4,’ aimed at empowering military families and building a supportive network.
