“The most difficult part of rehabilitation has been, and probably still is, psychologically adapting to society.”— Serhii Hruzenskyi
A Passport Control Inspector in the Border Guard Service, Serhii served as a shooter and grenade-launcher operator in some of the most dangerous zones of the war — Sumy, Zhytomyr, Kyiv (Chornobyl), and the eastern front lines of Bakhmut and Kreminna — holding back enemy forces and safeguarding Ukraine's borders.
In July 2023 Serhii sustained life-threatening injuries in a missile attack that left him physically wounded and emotionally scarred. Each day of rehabilitation has brought both physical pain and psychological struggle — but his determination continues to drive him forward.
The hardest part of Serhii's rehabilitation has been adapting to society again after the horrors of war. The psychological adjustment remains one of his toughest battles — and one he keeps fighting with unwavering resolve.
