“Ukraine is an unbreakable nation, and I want the whole world to understand this. When we achieve victory, it will be a triumph not only for our people but for the entire civilised world.”— Yuriy Holyk
Yuriy took the military oath in 2004. Mobilised to the east in 2015, he fought in the ATO zone and rose to sergeant. During the full-scale invasion he defended Kyiv and took part in the defence of Irpin with the 204th Territorial Defence Battalion, before serving with the 242nd TDF Battalion and the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade in Kharkiv and Donetsk oblasts.
In 2023 Yuriy was severely wounded in a high-intensity combat mission, enduring significant physical trauma. His recovery has been long and painful — but his injuries only fuelled his determination to stay in service and keep protecting his homeland, whatever the personal cost.
